Safety & Trust

The marketplace only works
if everyone trusts it

BidRoom protects buyers and sellers in every transaction. Our trust system makes that protection visible — so every decision is an informed one.

Your trust level

Three tiers. Higher tier, more credibility.

Your trust tier is calculated automatically based on the steps you've completed. It's visible to all sellers when you bid — it works as your instant reputation.

Level 1
🧾
Verified
Email verified
Requirement: confirm your registration email.
⚠️ No payment guarantee. If you don't pay after winning an auction, the seller relies solely on your reputation history.
Level 2
🪪
Identity Verified
Document verified
Requirement: verify identity via Stripe Identity (passport or national ID).
🔒 Your identity is known. In case of an unresolved dispute, you can be held legally accountable.
Level 3
🛡️
Payment Guaranteed
Identity + saved card
Requirement: KYC completed + valid credit/debit card registered on your account.
🛡️ Automatic compensation. If you lose a dispute, BidRoom charges your saved card directly — no manual process.

What happens in case of a dispute

BidRoom acts as a facilitator, never as final arbiter. The process always has three phases before any irreversible decision.

Phase 01
💬
BidRoom Mediation
The buyer opens the dispute with evidence. The seller responds within 7 business days. BidRoom analyses and attempts an agreement.
⏱ 7 business days maximum
Phase 02
⚖️
CNIACC (arbitration)
If mediation produces no agreement, either party can escalate to CNIACC — an independent Portuguese ADR entity.
Voluntary for both parties
Phase 03
🏛️
Court
Last resort. The court ruling is binding. Platform records (logs, communications, transactions) are kept for 5 years as evidence.
European ODR platform available
💳
The saved card (Level 3) is never charged preventively
The automatic debit on the saved card only happens after a formal dispute decision resolved against the buyer — never before, never without prior email notification. The debited amount never exceeds the transaction value.
Frequently asked questions

Questions about your trust tier

No. What's visible is only the badge — "Verified", "Identity Verified" or "Payment Guaranteed". No card, IBAN or document data is visible to third parties. The seller only knows you have a valid card registered, not which one or its details.
Yes, you can remove the card at any time in Dashboard → Settings → Payment Method. When you do so, your trust tier drops to Level 2 (if you have KYC) or Level 1. The badge is immediately updated on all active auctions where you've already bid.
You'll receive an email warning 30 days before your card expires. If the card expires without you updating it, the trust tier drops automatically. Any active dispute at that point is not affected — it remains subject to the manual process.
No. Any debit to the saved card is always preceded by an email notification with the amount, the reason (dispute decision), and a 48-hour contestation period. If you believe the debit is unfair, you can contact support before final processing.
It's not mandatory for most auctions. It becomes mandatory for auctions with a value above €5,000, under the terms of Law 83/2017 (anti-money laundering). For all other auctions, Level 1 (verified email) is sufficient.
